• Global Search
  Users can search all the content managed directly by the Jahia Server.

  Each path includes mapping of the web site organization. This path greatly facilitates the navigation.

Content Management and Content Syndication

• Build-in web publishing tools
  Users can publish content on their own (add, delete, modify texts, images and files) without specific technical background. Users can select an ActiveX Editor (Internet Explorer) or a Java applet one (Netscape User) or enter directly HTML code.
• Customized templates
  Jahia portal reduces development costs by means of a customized interface. Organizations can use the standard templates within Jahia package or use these templates as starting point for the development of customized user interfaces to define a corporation's identity and image. The Jahia Server is totally independent from the template and can support any look-and-feel.

  Users can add new pages and generate the desired web structure. The number of web pages managed by the Portal server is not limited.

• Portlets technology
  Portlets are portal plug-and-play (hot swap) components allowing users to interact virtually with any application or information source. From financial newsfeeds, to calendaring, to business intelligence applications, portlets empower users and provide them with appropriate tools for secure business decisions.

  Our Portlets technology support any kind of Java applications including the J2EE Servlets 2.3 standards. Why should you reinvent the wheel? This technology can increase your previous IT investments.
• Wizard to facilitate installation process
  Installing a new portlet, be it an image, a text or a full web application, is something every user can do. Web wizard guides you and describes step by step what you have to do. Every procedure is implemented in the portal view.

 

Security and Single Sign-on

• Automatic single sign-on
  The user logs only in the portal. Other applications or systems are accessed automatically by the Portal, based on existing security profiles or your LDAP server.
• User and Group Mapping
  Portal administrators are flexible to map users of different security profiles for different applications.
• LDAP support
  No need to redefine user IDs and passwords. The Jahia Portal automatically authenticates users with your existing LDAP server.
• Item-level security
  The access rights indicate the area of the web page your user end users can view (field granularity)

 

Administration Tools

• Web-based administration console
  Portal Administrator can manage everything (users, templates, applications, sitemap…) from a centralized secure web-based administration console.
• Switch mode
  Users can switch mode while they are browsing information at the portal. It helps to avoid useless administration buttons.

 

Scalability and Performance

• Compatible with any J2EE server
  The Jahia product are pre-packaged with a fully compatible J2EE application Server. Nevertheless our portal engine supports other application servers as well (for servlets 2-3 compatibility). The customer may then choose the most adequate application server according to its specific criteria (scalability, performance, support...).
• Bandwidth Support
  Jahia Server supports customers' connectivity requirements and/or limitations. Users can access their portal via any connection speed. Site Administrator for example can limit templates to classical HTML 3.2 specification to reduce bandwidth and browser compatibility issues.

 

Common Development Tools and Technologies

• Browser Support
  Jahia Server provides any browser implementing at least the HTML 3.2 specification with a wide variety of customer support. Our Portal Server enormously profits from DHTML or WML languages as applications output is manipulated as raw data which is easy to update.
• Standard Java/J2EE technology
  Jahia's product line uses standard SUN Java technologies allowing IT organizations to capitalize on existing skills and technology investments. Developers can create custom portal applications by using standard JSP pages, HTML, XML or DHTML, Javabeans, Enterprise Javabeans and JavaScript.
