The French Development Agency (AFD) is a financial institution that is at the heart of France?s Development Assistance policy. Its mission is to finance development. Thanks to the broad line of financial tools that it has been able to engineer and enhance, AFD supports public authorities, the private sector and local associate networks, to implement a wide range of social and economic projects. AFD is thus present on five continents and in Overseas France. With 60 offices abroad and 1,306 agents, AFD is active in more than 60 countries throughout the world. In foreign countries, AFD?s financial commitments reached 3.5 billion euros in 2007.
